Members
want us to maximize the bargaining power that co-op membership gives
them. Houson County Electric Cooperative is a member of ETEC, with
a combined membership of over 300,000 East Texas co-op members,
local residents like you have a great deal of leverage in this changing
marketplace. We will continue to leverage this bargaining power
to find you the best deals available
Members
want us to go slow. Since opting into deregulation is a permanent
choice, we are not going to rush into anything. Lawmakers gave us
as co-ops the power to make this decision and we intend to make
it with all the facts on the table and with as much input from our
members as possible.
Members
want us to continue to explore every option that will be available
when deregulation goes into effect and keep them informed of their
choices.
We
at Houston County Electric Cooperative have always done everything
in our power to make sure its members were getting the best prices
from the most reliable energy sources. Deregulation will probably
give us the ability to expand our members' choices - though this
does not necessarily mean we have to opt-in to the completely deregulated
market with all its uncertainties. We will continue to look into
our options and listen to your opinions. It is, after all, your
co-op.
Some
things won't change.
Houston
County Electric Cooperative will still be responsible for delivering
electricity to your home or business.
Houston
County Electric Cooperative will still be maintaining the lines,
servicing the right-of-ways, restoring power after storms...ensuring
that electricity is safely delivered to your homes, farms, and businesses.
